It was during the golden age of downtown Lake Charles in the 1940’s and 50’s when our family opened their first business in Lake Charles LA. Before everyone moved south of town all the downtown street people would be saying, “Ca-mon sa va”” talking French and catching up on news. Our first restaurants in Lake Charles were know as The Palace Sandwich shop, Mary Anns, and The Colonial Inn.

 One day ex-governor of Louisiana Sam Jones came by and suggested we name the second restaurant Colonial Inn because of the big columns out front.

 We had a lot of clients back then, majors, Sheriffs; Rosa Heart was a customer, of whom the Rosa Hart theater at the Lake Charles Civic Center is named who was a resident of Lake Charles.  It is rumored that Senator Jessie Knowles waited out his first election night at the business.
