Have you ever seen those transportable carports that are made of a tarp material that are designed to be an inexpensive carport? They provide great protection from the rain, sun, and ice in colder months. I have had our customers build our carports on skids so they could be easily moved by just hooking onto the wood runner boards, and often someone needs to move their carport to a new location.

So, are our carports portable… the answer is yes, but before you attempt to move your carport there are a few things you should know so that you’re able to do so without any problems, and ensure that your carport will service you for years to come.

Pictured below is the base rail of the carport which is attached to the ground by re-bar, or anchors.  These will need to be removed before moving your building.  You may only have re-bar and not helix anchors.

  1.  Your carport is either installed with re-bar to anchor it into the ground, concrete anchors, or helix ( mobile home anchors) these will need to be removed before transporting your metal carport.  Carports built on decks as below may be able to be moved differently.
